  1. I just got my MS in nutrition, and I investigated the effect of probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics on lactose intolerance for my thesis. This video is spectacular; it's straightforward, funny, and accurate.

  2. I have depression, ocd, and anxiety. nothing ever helped me until i went on a diet to lose weight. on this diet in which i did research on the effects of food on these disorders. and let me tell you i still have them but they are 10 times easier to manage. my daily diet consists of beef, rice, fish, veggies, mixed fruit, greek yogurt, eggs, and a protein shake (i lift weights so this is heavily protein based diet)

Definitely is you suffer from depression look at your diet and make changes if necessary before trying meds.

  3. You need to also talk about the viability of supplemental probiotics. Very few actually survive the freeze drying period. Just eat homemade milk and water kefir. It's cheaper and live and active. The diversity of microbiota are impressive >40 different strains all that can work and live together. Then make your own kraut, all is cheap and easy to do.

  4. About 5 years ago, my younger sister developed a mild but life changing level of OCD due to our home environment and when we went to the child psychologist, she recommended against pills since my sister was still very young and instead suggested us a supplement which is called a pre and pro biotic pill. Since that time I always thought it was good to take probiotics.

Do you think this was harmful to her in any way? We haven't continued with the supplements since that time 5 years ago, but I'm a bit confused since you mentioned that it could actually worsen the gut condition.

  5. hey dr mike, what about activia yogurt? is something like that ok for healthy ppl to eat regularly, and does it die off in the stomach before it even helps?
