  1. OMG! I never thought of steaming them. I bought some at the store 'cause I remembered eating them at Christmas dinner when I was a little kid, & loving them. I tried to bake them like potatoes but they were way too big (or I left them in the microwave too long), and they were raw on the inside & shriveled on the outside. But now I see! Thank you!

  2. Sweet potato originates from the Americas and is considered as part of the root system while yam originates from Africa and is the bulb of the root. Generally sweet potatoes contain more nutrients but yams are considered healthier due to sodium content and sugars compared to sweet potatoes. Either way both can be cooked and offer different flavors to your dish. By the looks of it the recipe contains sweet potatoes as yam (when ripe) is much larger and has a more blend color(white-grey- ish) on the inside and dark and wrinkly on the outside (and it doesn't look very appetizing).

  3. I wrap my yams (yes I call them sweet potatoes too) in foil, put on a cooking sheet to bake. I add a little butter, no sugar or honey because they are naturally sweet. Yummy and filling!
